A most rewarding feature of my work is giving presentations to small and large groups on various aspects of healthy eating. I have done numerous such presentations and always receive wonderful feedback from participants who find the talks informative, motivational and enlightening and love to go home and tell their family and friends the tips they have just learned.   

  

Topics include (but not limited to):

  

  • General healthy eating: Covering how to make the right day to day food choices to maintain a healthy weight and improve general health and wellbeing.
  • Lose weight, feel great: Explains the benefits of weight loss, provides easy to follow tips to help with weight loss and management and looks at making changes (goal setting).
  • Label reading workshop: A fun session which involves a brief education on how to read and understand the nutrition panels on food packets, followed by an activity session where participants are given food packets to gain first hand experience.
  • Portion sizes and weight management: Discusses how our food portion sizes and body weight have increased over the years and provides simple tips to reduce portion sizes.
  • Fabulous Fibre: Teaches about the much under considered benefits of dietary fibre with regard to weight control, high cholesterol, heart disease, diabetes and of course bowel health.
  • Energy, Metabolism and Carbohydrates: A very interesting topic which sparks a lot of questions and has led to the development of the follow-up topic, Caffeine, Alcohol and the Glycaemic index.

  

Presentations run for 60 minutes with additional question time. I encourage listeners to ask questions throughout the talk as this allows a more interactive experience that really engages the audience. Listeners love the opportunity to ask questions and having the actual facts explained to them provides something useful to take home.   

  

Each presentation also involves an activity to stimulate and motivate the audience. Summary sheets for participants to take home are available for each topic.
